چکیده
Background: Carbetocin and oxytocin are indicated for the prevention of postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) due to uterine atony. is a newer analogue with longer half life more heat stable. PPH can be effectively reduced by prophylactic use uterotonics. The aims present study were compare effects carbetocin in separation placenta, controlling blood loss additional uterotonic needed caesarean section (CS) at high risk primary PPH. Methods: Women group (group A) received bolus 100 µg IV; women control B) 20 IU 1000 ml 0.9% NaCl solution IV (150 mL/ hour). efficacy drugs was evaluated. Also, haemodynamic need agents compared. In addition, we compared drop haemoglobin level, placental separation, tone. Results: Both produce hypotension but effect greater group. Placental seen early Uterine tone attained earlier however maintained persistently Additional (46% vs 0%, p=0.05). Conclusions: A single injection appears effective than continuous infusion maintain sustained adequate prevent However, there delayed attainment after carbetocin.

Adverse Effects of Carbetocin versus Oxytocin in the Prevention of Postpartum Haemorrhage after Caesarean Section: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Purpose To compare the incidence of nausea, vomiting, and arterial hypotension between carbetocin and oxytocin to prevent haemorrhage after caesarean section (CS). Methods A randomized controlled trial in term pregnant women undergoing planned CS. Groups were randomized to carbetocin or oxytocin. Blood pressure (BP), heart rate, presence of nausea/vomitus, and need for vasopressors were evalu...
متن کاملCarbetocin versus oxytocin in caesarean section with high risk of post-partum haemorrhage.
OBJECTIVES the aims of the present study were to compare the haemodynamic effects of oxytocin and carbetocin and to assess the efficacy of these two drugs in terms of blood loss and the additional uterotonic needed in caesarean section at high risk of primary post-partum haemorrhage. METHODS women in the carbetocin group (group A) received a bolus of 100 μg IV; women in the control group (gro...
متن کاملPrevention of postpartum haemorrhage with the oxytocin analogue carbetocin.
Postpartum haemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide: 67-80% of cases are caused by uterine atony. Preventive measures include prophylactic drug use to aid uterine contraction after delivery, thus avoiding severe blood loss and reducing maternal morbidity and mortality. Carbetocin is a synthetic analogue of oxytocin with a half-life approximately 4-10 times longer than th...
متن کاملA randomised controlled trial comparing oxytocin and oxytocin + ergometrine for prevention of postpartum haemorrhage at caesarean section.
BACKGROUND Globally 166 000 women die annually as a result of obstetric haemorrhage. More than 50% of these deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa. Uterine atony is the commonest cause of severe postpartum haemorrhage (PPH). Bleeding at or after caesarean section (CS) is responsible for >30% of maternal deaths due to obstetric haemorrhage in South Africa (SA). OBJECTIVE To compare oxytocin alo...
متن کاملPeripheral, Placental and Cord Cytokines Profile in Spontaneous Labor and Elective Caesarean Section
Background: Cesarean section delivery can lead to much maternal morbidity. Different cytokines have been reported to be influenced by the mode of delivery. Objective: To investigate the influence of mode of delivery on maternal, placental and cord sera of interferon gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) levels. Methods: These three cytokines were measured using ELISA in...
